Allison Moorer Biography

Allison Moorer made a substantial impact with her debut recording of the Academy Award nominated A Soft Place To Fall from the movie The Horse Whisperer. It was a bluesy, traditional-sounding country ballad that stood out in 1998 from the pop-rock country crossovers of Faith Hill and Shania Twain. Allison's ascent to country stardom seemed inevitable, but despite an encore in which she performed her Soft Place To Fall at the Oscars, commercial success never really arrived. Instead she has remained very much a critics' favourite as she has steadily built a sizeable cult following whilst releasing nine quite diverse albums.
